Descending Darkness
by: Harry Turtledove

Reading this section today made me feel excited because Sabrino was battling more dragons. He lost more than half of his brigade since the beginning of the war against Unkerlant. He now doesn’t have enough men and dragons to do what his job as well as before. Now for the first time in the war Algarve is being pushed back. Unkerlant is learning new techniques and the harsh winter plays a major role in pushing Algarve back. Unkerlant finally learned how to use their behemoths; in mass groups where they can reek havoc on enemy troops. They also learned to put snowshoes on the behemoths so they can move faster. Even their troops are more equipped and used to the harsh winter. They have heavy layers of wool; there whole body is covered with clothing so nothing is exposed. They also put white smocks over them so they blend in with the snow, and when there are big snowstorms and blizzards no one can see them.

The Red Kayak
By:Priscilla Cummings

Reading this section today made be extremely mad, sad and disappointed because all along I wondered what really happened to the red kayak. Why Mrs. D’Angelo and Ben would go out in the kayak that morning. Did she know what she was doing? She would never risk taking her son with her. Then I read page 99 of chapter 13 and got sick. The three boys, Brady, Digger and JT took Brady’s fathers drill and drilled holes in the kayak. Then they put the holes back in the canoe with a water based glue and after 30 minutes the glue gives way and to them, Mr. D’Angelo would be the one in the water. Digger hated the D’Angelo’s for buying his grandfathers house. Now I wonder whose idea it was to put the holes in the canoe.

Reading this section today made me feel sad and angry because it was the end of the book. I am angry because i think he made the wrong decision to go to the pros. I wonder what the real reason for this choice was. I know that he made more money going to the pros. In the long run I think going to college would of paid off. He would of been a better athlete and a better all around person going to college. I also wonder if he regrets this choice now that he is a mediocre basketball player getting in trouble. Over all i think he should of went to college and since he didn't it makes me angry to see talent get wasted.

Reading this section today made me feel shocked because all of the girls got separated. They left town to travel to different places over the summer. Tibby was the only girl that stays home. Leeda goes to Greece to visit her grandparents. She meets a very attractive boy names Kostos. Bridget on the other hand, goes to soccer camp and falls in love with her trainer. She tries every possible to make him like her.

Reading this section today made me feel exceited, because Bean is in control of his own army and is being put up against his old teammates. This can be found on page 348 chapter "Friend". I am very interested to see how Bean handles his own army. I am however, a little dissapointed that Ender is leaving the book. I really liked reading about the only person who could cause Bean to feal stupid. Bean being the smartest kid in the entire school, teachers included.

“For One More Day”

Reading this section today made me feel pity. Pity for Chick Benetto and his life story. Charles “Chick” Benetto was a major league baseball player, and a very good one at that. But when his mother had passed away his life led him down the drain. One night he got so intoxicated with beer that he drove a car off of a bridge as a result of depression and mourning. The reason is for my pity is because of his one wish to have spent one more day with his mother. I feel sorry for him because I can relate to his mothers passing like my own family that has passed. Even his daughter shows signs of pity towards him when she quotes “ sorry you couldn’t say one last thing to your mom.” He went from pro ball player to a drunk. But what he has yet to find out, is that his wish might come true. That he might spend one more day with his mom.

Reading this section today made me feel happy because Santiago is finally taking off after all his commitment and drama he has made it to the big time. This makes me happy for a few reasons, he still played fantastic after his dad died, that is a lot of emotion to handle and still be close to on top of the soccer world. I am proud of him for sticking it out with Roz because now he has the money, the skill, the girl and a team on his back, which means he is a leader. I am also happy for Santiago because he can put Newcastle struggles behind him and now he is playing with his dream team on real Madrid the captain position. The position is next to David Beckham, he has dreamed of this day. Now he is on his road to sustaining glory and can leave his fellow “teammates” for a good team with actual teammates not one who tries to sabotage your career, like glen who was a friend then enemy then friend again who eventually became the enemy. Now that Santiago is on the television for every one to see, I hope his dispersed family can see him and feel proud that they’re little Santiago is now a star. From this book, I took away family values such as bonding and loyalty, from his grandfather giving him trust and hop the whole way. Without him, it would have never been possible.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
by Jules Verne

Reading this section today made me feel bored because Captain Nemo explained to Professor Arronax, how the Nautilus ship runs completely on electricity, and how Captain Nemo obtained it. Captian Nemo built each part of the ship in a different place in the world. He also explained to Professor Arronax how he descended to the depths of the ocean, without the water pressure crushing the submarine. Captain Nemo only told Professor Arronax this because he is never allowed to leave the ship. Captain Nemo built the Nautilus to escape the troubles of the outside world. He was a rich man before he left on the Nautilus, so he could afford to build such a ship. he was also a master engineer. Some parts of the reading section were interesting, but mostly it was boring. I hope there will be more action in the next few chapters.

The Lovely Bones

Reading this section today made me feel sad because of the way the author
portrays Susie's younger sister. On page 53, paragraph four, Alice Seabold
explains how Lindsay Salmon, Susies sister, is going to read in front of
her high school class, but they explain how she is the dead girl's sister.
That makes me sad because it shows how far the get to over coming the
family's lose and then all of a sudden they get reminded of this sadness.
Why the author would do this, it would probably show the reader that in the
real world everyone has to move on eventually. I kind of wonder and think to
myself if i could ever move on to someones death. How hard it would be to be
resillient. Hopefully that isn't in my future.

Splinter Cell “checkmate” by David Michaels

Reading this section today made me feel happy, because it turns out the Trego only had one member so it was an in and out mission. After Sam had boarded the Trego, he dashed off to find the operation room. Unfortunately, Sam ran into some trouble on pg 18. Sam had no choice so he reached for his gun. The man did the same but Sam had the quicker finger and Sam shot. The man was carrying a laptop. The ship was controlled by that. Eventually after a minute or so, Sam stopped the Trego.

Harry potter and the goblet of fire

This section that I read today was exciting and also weird and scary at the same time. Today when they were pulling the names out of the goblet they called a name from every team. Then after the goblet went crazy and the spit out his name. That was exciting for Harry to be in the games but it was scary after Haggard showed him the dragons and he did not know how to slay the dragon. His friends do not like him Ron wanted both of them do be in it together and know that he is in it know when he is only 16. Hermione is also mad at him because they think that he put his name in that goblet. The other players in the torment did not like him but pretended to like him.

Reading this section today made me feel sad, because… on page 6 it states that jean's wife died. It's very sad because you then find out he is having trouble finding a new girlfriend he just isn’t very good at talking to girls. He talks about things they really don’t care about.

Reading this section today made me feel sad, because it reminded me of the end of summer. I always disliked knowing that summer was coming to an end and that you had to start a new semester. I always worried what new classes were going to be like and if my friends were going to be in them. (page 2) Angela and Maddie worried about the same things. This also brought me back to when I had the first day of middle school. I was so freaked out but it turned out okay. This is how the two bestfreinds felt too. (page 3)
