Eragon
By Christopher Paolini

In my book Eragon, by Christopher Paolini, one section I was able to visualize was on page 7. The passage states "the herd bolted. Eragon lunged forward, racing through the grass as a fiery wind surged past his cheek. He slid to a stop and loosed an arrow at the bounding doe. It missed by a finger's breadth and hissed into the darkness.” I was able to visualize this because it is very descriptive. It also explains every aspect of the scene. It shows you and explains to you every movement and the environment around eragon. The author also explains how each thing was done, fast or slow or in anger. That is why I was able to visualize that section.

Pretty Little Liars
Sara Sheparde

In my book Pretty Little Liars , by Sara Shepard , one section I was able to visualize was on page 86. The passage states, "… she adored how tall and athletic he was, how he was always really nice to teachers, and he dressed well, not like a colorblind slob." I was able to visualize this because the author was very descriptive. It was easy for me to get a vivid picture in my head of what this boy looked like and what his personality was. I feel that Sara Shepard really knows how to use adjecives to describe a person or scene. Whenever a character changes his/her location, the author has the tendency to explain the knew place. Often times she goes into description of what it smells like.

Diary of a Crush
By: Sarra Manning

In my book Diary Of a Crush, by Sarra Manning, one section I was able to visualize was on page 264. The passage states, “ I could hear the steady beat of his heart and smell the scent of lemon on his skin. Dylan sang along to an old song on the radio, one hand resting lightly on the steering wheel and the road stretched out before us.” I was able to visualize this because even though there weren’t a lot of adjectives, describing the moment they went back to the hippie fair, the author showed how close they were (close meaning relationship wise). The author also explained the tiny things. Such as the way the boy Dylan’s skin smelt, and how his girlfriend, Edie could hear him singing. I pictured this all happening in an old car. Where they set out to drive all day to get back to their friends. Although the best visualization was “road stretched out before us.” It allows me to connect to the text. You would think that the road is long and narrow. The way the author writes that sets the mood at the ending of the book.

The Big Field
By Mike Lupica

In my book The Big Field, by Mike Lupica, one section I was able to visualize was on page 216. The passage states"Then another ball was on top of him and he was coming through with his arms and wrists and hands, the wood bat so loud on the ball Hutch was sure they had to be able to hear it back at the softball game , this hit rocketing right off the ball machine itself, so hard that Hutch thought it might knock the sucker right down." I was able to visualize this because Hutch's dad has never appreciated baseball ever since he left the minors. To see him having fun and really nailing those balls across the batting cage is significant, it really describes what is going on at that exact moment in time

The Red Kayak
By- Prisclilla Cummings

In my book The Red Kayak, by Priscilla Cummings, one section I was able to visualize was on page 54. The passage states “It freaked me out, seeing that kayak under the water.” I was able to visualize this because of what Brady had to do, what he had to see, what he was feeling. You don’t need creative language in a sentence to visualize the scene. The events in the book to this point tell it all. After the funeral, Brady decided to go out on the water. It usually made him feel good. But not this day. He began screaming at the water. “You didn’t have to kill him.” His voice echoed in the cold. He began to cry. The river didn’t care. But then a strange chilling feeling settled around him. At that very moment, and he had no idea why, he leaned over to peer into the river, the water was not brown and full of sediment, but unusually clear. At the bottom a few feet down, Brady could see the red kayak. What brought him to this spot in the river? I could picture this scene because sometimes bring out on the water can be fun and exciting but other times, depending on the weather the water can be calm and steady and absolutely eerie and strange. I could feel the chills go up Brady’s back when I read this section.

All's Fair in Love, War and High School
by Janette Rallison

In my book All's fair in Love, War and High School, by Janette Rallison, one section I was able to visualize was on page 54. The passage states, “Rick was one of those rebel students whose extreme haircut matched perfectly with his strange clothes. On occasion I'd see him wear a safety pin through his ear." I was able to visulize this because there wasn't alot of hidden details that you had to look into. The main character, Samantha, explains how a student doesn't care about school or anything else besides the weekends. The way a person dresses tells what their personality is. Rick's apperance is dirty and grunchy. I pictured that he didn't care about himself. The author put in many details about each of the characters and every one puts a picture in my head of someone I knew.

Glass
By Ellen Hopkins

In my book Glass, by Ellen Hopkins, one section I was able to visualize was on page 148. The passage states "I want to escape this life. I want to get out. I want to be free and have fun.” In this section, I was able to visualize this part because all teenagers want to have fun and do whatever they want. I imagined Bree wanting to go to parties and not having responsibilities. As of right now she’s pregnant and she’s not able to do whatever she wants. She is almost 18 but when she does turn 18, she then has to be prepared for her new born baby. Also she has school and a career future to worry about and she’s not giving up on anything.

In my book My Name Is America, by Patrick Seamus Flaherty one section I was able to visualize was on page 3. The passage states,"Yeah, it's Christmas. I am on a combat base out in the middle of the junngle surrounded by mountains." I can visualize this because I can just imagine what it must be like spending Christmas in another country fighting. And also spending Christmas with people you barely know. I wonder what they did for fun, in the green swapy jungle that is filled with enemy forces that would kill you at first sight. I can visualize the enviornment with guns and slight rain fall around a small base camp.I can also visualize White mountain tops in the back round that touch the heavy clouds above in a distant place of danger. But yet so beautiful.

Maximum Ride: the Final Warning
by James Patterson

In my book Maximum Ride: the Final Warning, by James Patterson, one section I was able to visualize was on page 3. The passage states "Ssssss. The soldiers armor made an odd hissing noise, but besides the slight sound of metal plates sliding smoothly, flawlessly over one another, the troop was unnaturally quiet as it moved through the woods getting closer to the prey.” I was able to visualize this because of the way the author uses his words (such as the snake noises) to put the image in my head. The image I saw in my head was a tall man with a suit of metal armor on with snakes slithering over and under each other, around and around the armor. Then when I read the second part, I could imagine the man with his snake armor slowly moving toward something he is hunting in the jungle (possibly other humans!). It really puts a feeling of fear in your gut.

Perks of being a Wallflower
By Stephen Chbosky

In my book Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, one section I was able to visualize was on page 3. The passage states "Especially in the office because I was still crying I never did stop crying. As much as I feel sad, I think not knowing is what really bothers me." I was able to visualize this because I can totally relate and I feel like I was there. I see this is in the way that I experienced it. I had someone pass away that I knew. I was extremely upset. I went to the guidance counselors just like Michael did, but yet still as much as they told me everything would be okay, I never stopped crying. Also the person passed away by taking their own life. That is always why I visualize this so well, because honestly that was the hardest part, not knowing why. Not having closure and not being able to understand.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
By Jules Verne

In my book Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, by Jules Verne, one section I was able to visualize was on page 137. The passage states "Vanikoro. This name was magical. It was the name of the islands upon which the vessels of La Perouse had been lost." I was able to visualize this because the passage made me think of Pirates of the Caribbean and all of the lost ships at sea. I saw the movie and I pictured the colossal boats in this hidden cove in the caribbean. Professor Arronax and everyone onboard the Nautlius had finally reach ed vanikoro.

Shadow of The Hegemon
Orson Scott Card

In my book Shadow of The Hegemon, by Orson Scott Card, one section I was able to visualize was on page 80. The passage states, "Achilles only grinned, winked at Petra, and left. I was able to visualize this because the author uses this type of attitude alot. The attitude in which the charecter being attacked, in this case Achilles, doesn't lose his head and instead stays calm and cool. I can easily see the situation where they are all trapped in this room and the one who has them, Achilles walks in. They all(Enders jeesh) resent him and play mind games to make him feel insignificant. Achilles who is actually really smart but made out to be not as smart as any of them, handles them easily. Then as he is leaving one of Enders jeesh makes a rude remark towards him which causes all of them to laugh. Achilles just ignores them and makes a smooth move by just grinning, winking at the only girl there and leaving.

Mr. Brannigan
“For One More Day” by Mitch Albom

In my book “For One More Day”, by Mitch Albom, one section I was able to visualize was on page 129. The passage states "On a Thursday night after midterm exams, one of the fraternities had a big party. It was crowded and dark. Music blasted. Black lights made posters on the walls-seem phosphorescent. We laughed loudly and toasted each other with plastic cups of beer.."I was able to visualize this because the adjectives used to describe such as dark, crowded, phosphorescent , music blasted are very detailed and effective. The author allows you to feel the heat emitted by the black lights on the walls, and the vibration of the music bouncing off the walls. He describes the setting as night and dark, the sounds of music blasting, the tastes with the plastic cups of beer, the dark party like sights. The author Mitch Albom tends to use all the readers senses to describe a scene. The picture painted in my head is one of a dark room not boring but exciting with loud music and a lot of people just having a good time. Some people going crazy, maybe even getting drunk. The main character; Chick; is just having a great time.

Saved
Jack Falla
In my book saved, by Jack Falla, one section I was able to visualize was on page 40. The passage states "There I was holding the puck on the goal line with the rest of me sprawled in the net." I was able to visualize this because... I have been in that situation before it actually happened to me on Saturday. There is no better feeling of an amazing save but to have that same feeling on the goal line is even better. Later in the passage it says he held it longer then he had to for dramatic effect, all goalies do this because it makes any save look better. But also if he just said there I was holding the puck after a save I would have been like wow I’ve done that before millions of times. But it doesn’t happen very often where you are sprawled in the net with your glove out that contains the puck in it. Now that I can picture and it is one of the most amazing pictures I have ever seen.

Homeboyz

Alan Laerence Sitomer

In my book Homeboyz by Alan Laerence Sitomer one section I was able to visualize was on the first page as soon as I opened the book. It was telling the reader about his life and what has happened to his sister. She died from a gang shooting. If my sister ever got shot by any one I would go and fine the person just like teddy did and shoo them right back and get vengeance for my sister. I could not imagine not having my sister around and I know what it feels like to lose some one close to you. But if I was ever in his position and a gang killed me sister I would go into the gang and fine that gut who killed my sister and get him back.

Perfect
Sara Shepard

In my book Perfect, by Sara Shepard, one section I was able to visualize was on page 294. The passage states" Hanna, look out! Move, she told her limbs but they seemed dried out, like cacti." I was able to visualize this because of how much detail was put into it. I felt like I was actually there. I kept asking myself, why doesn't Hanna just move? Why couldnt she get herself to move, especially at a time like this? I can tell that the last few pages of the book, which held the passage, were carefully thought through and revised. I felt like I was in Hanna's shoes and like the car was coming right at me. I wanted to shove Hanna out of the way of the car. That is why I was able to visualize this section.

Questions I have for the characters:
1. Aria, what does it feel like to be homeless. Becuase you are taking it pretty well.
2. Emily, what are you going to do? You can't move to Iowoa. Will A follow you there?
3.Spencer, how could you not remember hurting Ali? How did you get away with it? You left no evidence of it.
4. Hanna, do you think A will still try to contact you or will A just leave you alone?
5. Hanna, who do you think A is?
6. Aria, you HATED how your dad cheated on your mom and ruined your whole family, how could you go and do the exact same thing to your boyfriend?

The Jump
Ian O'Connor

In my book The Jump, by Ian O'Connor, one section I was able to visualize was on page 300. The passage states "With the 13th pick of the 2004 NBA draft," Stern said on TV, "the Portland Trail Blazers select Se-bas...." Telfair exploded."I was able to visualize this because I can see the excitement on the faces of Telfair and his family. Telfair waited for this day and when it came he couldn't believe it. He had to hear it from David Stern (commissioner) himself to really feel the excitement in being in the NBA. This moment just showed how the struggles of Sebastian's payed off for him and his family.
